Beit Haverim is an open, inviting, and spiritually alive Jewish community, located just outside of Portland, Oregon in Lake Oswego. We welcome everyone to our Reform congregation of Jews by birth, Jews by choice, and Jews at heart. Beit Haverim/South Metro Jewish Congregation was founded in 1992 so that families and individuals might experience the sense of Jewish belonging that comes from shared worship, religious instruction, Tikkun Olam, and social events at a location not too far from home. Please feel free to call us, email us, or visit us at any time.
Beit Haverim In The News
We are so grateful for the series of holiday articles written by reporter Barb Randall of Lake Oswego Review/West Linn Tidings. Her most recent article found here focuses on the High Holy Days.
Join us in the Social Hall for dinner with friends. Please bring a dish to share. Email dena_gutterman@comcast.net to tell her what you will bring. Join us afterwards for Shabbat Service. Children encouraged to attend!
Join us after potluck dinner for a family service led by Rabbi Berg. Even the smallest children are encouraged to attend! A dessert oneg will follow the service.
Top 5 Reasons to Attend High Holy Days at Beit Haverim:
5. We laugh, we pray, we close with a song. 4. See if Jonah makes it out of the whale this year! 3. This is NOT (necessarily!) your parents’ Judaism. 2. When your mother calls you can tell her that you went to services. 1. Spend the High Holidays with the family you didn’t know you had here.
The High Holidays are just around the corner and so are we! Come see what Beit Haverim has for you. Click here to view the calender.
The Ritual Committee offers our members many ways to participate during the High Holy Days. Your participation allows you to feel more intimately connected with our congregation and helps all of us to experience these important days more profoundly. Click here to let us know that you would like to partipate. Non-Members can find a form here.
